In Doksany, about 10 km from Litoměřice, there is a Premonstratensian convent. The history of the monastery church in Doksany begins with the preparations for the establishment of the canonry of the Premonstratensian sisters. The foundation stone of the monastery church was probably laid in 1144, and about a year later the first sisters from the monastery in Dünwald came to this place, provisionally.

It is stated that the unfinished building was consecrated on September 19, 1145 by Bishop Jindřich Zdík of Olomouc. It was a typical Romanesque three-nave basilica. As early as around 1200, however, the church had to be repaired and lived through the Hussite wars.

After several repairs, the church underwent a Baroque reconstruction at the beginning of the 18th century. Prominent Czech and foreign builders and artists took part in its decoration. It is remarkable that the original Romanesque masonry was preserved to the height of the vaults under the rich Baroque stucco decoration. Also at the disposal of the church it is still evident that it never ceased to be a three-nave basilica in the core, although the interior and exterior were transformed so that the church became a significant architectural monument of the High Baroque.

In 1998, the Premonstratensian sisters returned to this church. The church thus began to serve its original mission, when it became the center of the monastery again and a large part of the life of the contemplative sisters began to take place in it.
