Bishop's Residence

Adress: Máchova ulice, ?p. 1d

This was built on the site of the original chapter-house dating from the 11th century in the years 1683-1701 according to plans drawn up by Giulio Broggio as a two-storey building facing the river. The chapel of St. Vav?inec and paintings by F. Ku?era and Ch. Tietze can also be found here. There is a large library on the ground floor, for the most part constructed at the end of the 18th century for Bishop Emanuel Arnošt of Valdštejn. Upstairs there is the throne-room with its beautiful painted ceiling. Today the building is home to the eighteenth bishop of Litom??ice, ThDr. Josef Koukl. It is not open to the public.
